The History of Duggan & Massey
On the morning of November 30, 1956, John Duggan opened his doors at 402 East Ponce de Leon in Decatur, Georgia. With his diploma from the University of Alabama, six years of accounting experience with one of the “big eight” firms, and a year and a half of auditing experience with the IRS, John started his own CPA firm.
Nine years later John was ready to expand. In October of 1965, Dancy Massey, a Georgia State University graduate, was hired and shortly thereafter the firm moved to Executive Park.
For the next ten years the firm began to flourish as they primarily dealt with real estate, construction, and the service industry. In 1976 the firm moved to Piedmont Center, which remains our current home. In 1996 and 1997, John Duggan and Dancy Massey, respectively, retired, taking with them fond memories and leaving behind a legacy of a CPA firm known to so many as so much more.
